My name is Nick Matteucci and I co-founded VCSonline.com 11 years ago because I was frustrated with project portfolio management software. It was too complex, expensive, and cumbersome for the people who were trying to collaborate, manage portfolios, and get their hands around resource capacity planning.
We launched VPMi as a SaaS project management alternative to MS Project Server, @ Task, Daptiv, and others and tried to compete against them in traditional ways. Well as the last of our kind that hasn't sold one penny to the venture capital community and having spurred several attempts to silence us with $$ - they pretty much just outspend us on marketing cause they can.
So we have turned to (and have been VERY successful with) alternate ways to reach customers. LinkedIn and Twitter give us just that. A way to talk to potential customers directly at the highest levels of the company and really make a case for our passion and thought leadership.
At the end of the day, even if you weren't interested in cutting your project management time in 1/2 at a fraction of the cost - don't you want to sign up with people who are passionate, geeky, and almost doting with service?
I think so and LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, and other new media give us that sounding board that is free and unfiltered.
Warm Regards,
Nick Matteucci, Co-Founder VCSonline.com
